We eloped!
We got married in Stockholm City hall
My wedding dress is a 60’s vintage wedding dress.
I’ve always had a thing for the 60’s fashion with the short skirts and A-lines, when I tried this on at 59 Vintage store, I fell in love immediately. It’s a very simple silk dress with clean lines and a thin silver embroidery. My shoes are from Swedish Hasbeens and go in the same 60’s style. Shoes and underwear are the only thing I don’t buy second hand, shoes because I have a problem with left foot/knee so I prefer to have shoes that haven’t been worn in, and underwear because of obvious reasons.
We spent the morning separate. I was at my friend Madde’s place and she had made me the most amazing grapefruit salad so we had a glass of cava and a light lunch before it was time to take a cab to the Stockholm City hall, where I met my Love, his best friend and my colleague and our videographer Alina.
He dries my tears.
I was surprised over how emotional I got when the lady official asked if I would take Love Signor Valdemar Ojensa to be my wedded husband. The tears just fell down as I nodded and said yes. And I cried even more when she asked him the same thing.
We’re not very traditional, and none of us wanted to get married in the church, so we had prepared for the wedding to be a bit more… unromantic I guess, but it wasn’t at all. In fact it was very much more romantic and formal than we had expected it to be.
Fancy drinks and Siggesta Gård.
After the ceremony, we went to Eriks Gondolen, a very well known and quite fancy restaurant in Stockholm, and had a cocktail with our three guests. I didn’t know any of the plans for the day so guess if I was surprised when a friend of ours stood outside waiting for us in his car. He drove and drove and I had no idea where we would end up. Love had planned a stay at a countryside hotel called Siggesta Gård. And you guys! It was the best! Siggesta Gård is located ~30 minutes driving outside of Stockholm city (yet in Stockholm county) and you’re surrounded by nature and animals. The rooms were very simple in the best way. We had big windows with a countryside view, and the beds were so soft and dinner you guys! Love called them to see if they could arrange a vegan dinner menu for me, and the dinner was amazing. I was over the moon happy!
We had planned to keep our wedding ceremony small, although we didn’t plan for it to be quite this small, due to the Coronavirus we had to follow the restrictions. We still have plans to make a big wedding party with our loved ones when we have the possibility.
Thank you.
Thank you so much Madeleine for being our witness and the best friend one could have, and thank you for the lovely photos! Thank you so much Martin for spending your birthday with us, and being my Loves best friend and always caring for him. Thank you Alina for spending your free time with us filming our ceremony and always cracking us up. Thank you Siggesta Gård for receiving us and making it so special.
