We are building a tiny summer house

Rogslösa, Östergötland, Sweden

In October 2019 we bought land in Östergötland, Sweden, in a tiny place called Rogslösa. Our ambition was to build a (more or less) tiny house to have as a summer cabin and be there this summer. We were in talks with the Swedish TV-programme “Husdrömmar” (House dreams) and they wanted to feature us and our project. Then Corona came and we had to postpone our plans. The funny, or crazy thing, is that none of us had visited the area nor the land we bought. We sent my mother in law to take a look at it for us, and we bought it from having seen her photos and description of the place.

We drove to Rogslösa while we were in Jönköping to celebrate Christmas. It’s one hour drive from there, and it’s situated close to the lake Vättern. It’s absolutely beautiful. Our land is a small piece in between fields, horses, and a few other houses – and, not to forget – a church built in 1275!

As soon as we got there the car stopped. The battery died and just wouldn’t work. I’ve never experienced that before so I thought it was kind of exciting that we had to push the car out from our land and all the way to the closest neighbor to get help. It wasn’t that long, but it was windy and cold af.
