Take a summer swim in Copenhagen
Are you looking for a spot to cool off in the water when in Copenhagen? The beautiful city of Copenhagen is surrounded by water, and there are a few places where you can go for a swim in summer. These are my favourite spots:
Den Sorte Diamant
Pretty much in the middle of the city you find the Royal Library. Just next to the black diamond you’ll find stairs down to the water. Not a beach and not very family friendly, but a great place for a quick swim and tan while hanging out with your friends.
Amager Strand
Amager is a part of Copenhagen that is often forgotten even though it’s very close to central Copenhagen. Take the bike or the metro to Øresund and stroll down to the Amager beach. Family friendly and close to grocery stores and if you need to fill up the energy levels.
Refshaleøen/La Banchina
You can go for a swim on many places on Refshaleøen but a favourite is La Banchina – a café and restaurant with a sauna and porches to bathe from. Usually a very popular spot, and it’s easy to understand why; Natural wine, a few great dishes and the perfect summer location even though it’s a bit away from the inner city - 7 minutes walk from the art center Copenhagen Contemporary, Reffen food market and some of the fanciest Michelin restaurants just close by. A super cozy bike ride, but you can also take the bus.
Islands Brygge
Before coming to Amagerbro you’ll find the old worker’s neighbourhood Islands Brygge that is now a hip place. Pretty much the same vibe as at Den Sorte Diamant - you’ll jump in from the edge or find a little stair to take you down to the cooling water. Not super family friendly, but good for a picnic when it’s not too crowded.
